Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the differences between men and women in terms of cognitive emotion regulation strategies in a sample of 476 students from 16 to 32 years (78.4% women, Mage = 20.57 years) from a private university in Lima. The Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire– 18 was administered and a comparative analysis based on effect size measures was implemented. The results show that women have higher scores in catastrophizing and men in acceptation. The theoretical and practical implications of the findings are discussed.
