The profile of journalists in the digital age: An academic approach to understand their challenges and opportunities

Abstract
Which is the profile of the journalist that a media corporation currently demands? Is a specialized journalist or a ‘multitasking’ journalist required?
What kind of subjects are taught in universities to meet the expectations and needs of journalism companies? Since digital technologies stormed the newsrooms, these concerns have been raised without finding a satisfactory answer. Convergence remains, for now, a challenge for many media outlets that must face in their path the demands of a new type of reader or capricious audience.
