Love in times of pandemic
Main Article Content
Abstract
Since the beginning of the pandemic caused by the COVID-19, we have reflected on the reality of human condition: the crisis of love. The objective of this research work is to make a philosophical and ethical reflection on the value of love and faith in difficult situations, such as the circumstances that humanity is currently going through, considering that the real problem lies in the crisis of values and the lack of love as a product of individualism, hedonism and narcissism. It is concluded that love is the basis of every path leading to a meaningful life. The basis of the meaning of life, health and happiness is not found in science, political or economic power, but in love and trust in God. Moreover, the aim is to move from the ethics of risk to the ethics of love in order to rebuild the cradle of love: the family. As we read in the Bible: «Abide in faith, hope, and love. The greatest of these is love» (1 Cor 13:13); «Let them live rooted and grounded in love, through the Spirit who strengthens them in their inmost being» (Eph 3:16-17).
