Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic is challenging the world. With no treatment or vaccine available, and due to the high transmissibility rate of the virus, the only possible strategy is to contain the pandemic by imposing travel
restrictions, issuing stay-at-home orders, closing businesses, and mainly forbidding tourism and recreational activities. These measures have caused huge economic disruption in the tourism sector. This research work examines the position of travelling and tourism in the transmission of infections, and their impact in epidemics. Furthermore, the study discusses how COVID-19 is affecting tourism in Peru, and what organism has a key role for its recovery during and after the pandemic.
